Prime Minister Janša extends condolences to Turkish Prime Minister

Upon the news of the terrorist attack in Istanbul yesterday evening which resulted in so many deaths and injuries, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Janez Janša, sent a letter of condolence to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

In the letter, Mr Janša conveyed on behalf of the Republic of Slovenia and on his own behalf his heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of the victims. He also wrote to his Turkish counterpart that Slovenia condemns all forms of terrorism and supports unity among peaceful nations in the fight against terrorism.

At the June European Council Meeting, chaired by the current Council President, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Janez Janša the Heads of State or Government of the EU-27 focused on the outcome of the Irish referendum on the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty, measures to address the effects of escalating food and oil prices, the Millennium Development Goals and the Western Balkans.
